Why did we build UpVate Anywhere? My business partner Sanjay Kamani and I were talking at the NAEC conference in Boston in 2015. I asked him “what is your biggest problem when it comes to inspections.” He answers “when I collect photos for an inspection it takes forever to put them together with my inspection notes and get the report to the client.” We started brainstorming and came up with the idea for what later became “UpVate Anywhere,” our time saving mobile inspection app.
We started by charting out the process on a flow chart and then finding the opportunities where the process can be streamlined. The opportunities were in the 1.) collection process where we needed to associate the location in the building (and/or checklist item) and inspection notes. 2.) The inspection note collection, and 3.) The creation of inspection reports. We drew up some prototypes and delivered them to our Android developer, and we were off to the races. We’ve been iterating every two weeks for the last 5 months and we now have a product for Android and iOS that solves each one of these issues. Thanks Erik Blazynski
